Man City Hosts Leicester City: What To Expect From Top Of Table Clash

    0

    Leicester have a chance to directly influence who sits atop the Premier League table as they take on 2nd placed Manchester City in this weekend’s crunch fixture.

    The Foxes currently lead the lot with 3 points, but all that could change if Manchester City manager to secure a victory.

    Aguero is gunning for this game, his Leicester counterpart Jamie Vardy is also keen on putting in a solid performance here, so this game will be extremely tight.

    Let’s take a look at the critical factors in this game

    There is an added incentive for both sides to look forward to, as the winner of this fixture will sit in the 1st place – a win for Leicester would consolidate their position at the top of the table.

    It will be interesting to see how Manuel Pellegrini approaches this game after club management at the Etihad Stadium has already announced Pep Guardiola will take over has as City’s next manager.

    Either way, it definitely wasn’t a smart move by City to announce Guardiola’s acquisition as it may directly affect Pellegrini’s morale over the next couple of games.

    When looking at both sides they aren’t so different regarding quality as Leicester also boast of some talented marquee players;

    In attack, it’s going to be all about the trios of Aguero, Sterling and De Bruyne v Vardy, Mahrez, and Okazaki.

    Aguero is expected to play a significant role in this fixture as he seems to have hit the ground running again following his reoccurring knee injury that saw him sit out the most of the first half of the season.

    Vardy is also expected to pester the Manchester City defence with his excellent line-up play and cutting edge finishing.

    In the Midfield, it’s going to be all about Kante and Yaya Toure as both players are expected to be the playmakers for their respective teams on the occasion.

    Kante has been a huge revelation for Leicester this season as its almost like he never gets tired on the pitch.

    He does all the dirty work in midfield and even tracks back to help out in defence; Manchester City will have to look for a way to limit his influence in the match.

    In defence, it’s none other than Wes Morgan and Otamendi that’s touted to make the difference.

    Both players have been very solid this season so their respective teams can’t look past them to put in some brilliant performance. Manchester City doesn’t have much of a Choice due to the absence of prized defender Vincent Kompany.

    Both sides are somewhat evenly matched in terms of quality which is surprising considering how much costlier City’s squad is.

    Nonetheless, we can expect to see some entertaining football on Saturday afternoon.
